Racing Incident Report

GREAT PEGASUS was withdrawn from this race when that horse became very agitated and was unable to be saddled. As this was the second consecutive occasion on which GREAT PEGASUS had been withdrawn from a race after being unable to be saddled, the Stewards ruled that prior to being permitted to race again, that horse must be presented to the saddling area during the course of a racemeeting and must be able to be saddled on two consecutive occasions. Provided that GREAT PEGASUS is able to satisfy this aspect of the embargo, that horse must then undergo a parade test prior to which it must be able to be saddled in the vicinity of the Parade Ring.
After being loaded, SUCCESSFUL LEADER became fractious. Before being allowed to race again, SUCCESSFUL LEADER will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. SUCCESSFUL LEADER was slow to begin and then shortly after the start, from the outside barrier, was taken across behind runners.
Making the first turn after the 900 Metres, BRIGHT STAR was momentarily steadied away from the heels of THUNDER FLYER which shifted in.
Also making the first turn after the 900 Metres, WINNER’S DELIGHT got its head on the side and commenced to lay out. WINNER’S DELIGHT then hung out badly after the 700 Metres and ran wide on the Home Turn. Before being allowed to race again, WINNER’S DELIGHT will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend.
OSCAR MIRACLE lay out making the Home Turn.
A veterinary inspection of WINNER’S DELIGHT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
LOVELY BOY, THUNDER FLYER and BRIGHT STAR were sent for sampling.
<2/1/2014 Additional Veterinary Report> WINNER’S DELIGHT, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. WINNER’S DELIGHT was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer C S Shum this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right hind leg. Before being allowed to race again, WINNER’S DELIGHT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
