Racing Incident Report

GREAT STORIES was withdrawn on 19.12.13 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (fever) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter FOREVER AHEAD. Before being allowed to race again, GREAT STORIES will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
OPTIMIZATION STAR began very awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of MOBILE KING which became unbalanced and shifted in, resulting in OPTIMIZATION STAR being crowded for room outside DEMOKLES.
WINNAM began awkwardly and shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of FOREVER AHEAD which shifted in.
From the outside barrier, BORNFREE was taken across behind runners in the early stages.
After the 1200 Metres, when left racing wide, MOBILE KING was allowed to improve its position to be racing outside the lead. When MOBILE KING improved its position, LIFE OF BEAUTY was then left racing without cover.
Passing the 1200 Metres, WINNAM commenced to prove difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions when awkwardly positioned behind FUNNY FORTUNE which was racing close to the heels of DEMOKLES.
Approaching the 1100 Metres, OPTIMIZATION STAR commenced to prove very difficult to settle and was checked away from the heels of FLORAL MAN for some distance and then near the 1000 Metres became badly unbalanced when severely checked away from the heels of FLORAL MAN.
After the 1000 Metres, SUPER HORSE was taken wider into a position without cover by WINNAM which shifted out when continuing to prove difficult to settle.
Near the 650 Metres, OPTIMIZATION STAR again became unbalanced after being checked away from the heels of FLORAL MAN.
WINNAM had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.
The Stewards considered a protest/objection lodged by K Teetan, the rider of the second placed, FOREVER AHEAD, against GOOD THINKER (Apprentice C Y Lui) being declared the winner, alleging interference to his mount approaching and passing the 300 Metres. After taking evidence from all parties concerned and after viewing the official videos, the Stewards found that after being held up for clear running behind GOOD THINKER in the early part of the Straight, FOREVER AHEAD was shifted to the inside of that horse after the 400 Metres. The Stewards further found that after the 300 Metres FOREVER AHEAD was steadied when disappointed for running inside GOOD THINKER which shifted in marginally. As the Stewards were of the opinion that FOREVER AHEAD did not fully establish rightful running to the inside of GOOD THINKER, the protest/objection was overruled and weighed-in was declared on the numbers as semaphored by the Judge. FOREVER AHEAD was then held up for clear running until approaching the 100 Metres.
GOLDLAND DANCER and OPTIMIZATION STAR were badly held up for clear running until near the 200 Metres.
DEMOKLES was held up for clear running in the Straight until approaching the 200 Metres.
Approaching the 200 Metres, MOBILE KING raced in restricted room between FOREVER AHEAD and SPURS ON which shifted in.
Passing the 100 Metres, MOBILE KING was steadied away from the heels of FOREVER AHEAD which shifted out when not quite clear. K Teetan was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
Approaching the 50 Metres, OPTIMIZATION STAR and FUNNY FORTUNE bumped due to both horses shifting ground. A short distance later, LIFE OF BEAUTY shifted out away from FLORAL MAN, resulting in OPTIMIZATION STAR bumping the hindquarters of FUNNY FORTUNE which became unbalanced.
FLORAL MAN was unable to obtain clear running in the Straight and consequently was not able to be properly tested.
U Rispoli (LIFE OF BEAUTY) was warned against the practice of raising his whip arm above the height of his shoulder.
A veterinary inspection of LIFE OF BEAUTY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
FLORAL MAN, GOOD THINKER and FOREVER AHEAD were sent for sampling.
