Racing Incident Report
SHARP HUNTER began awkwardly.
JOYFUL LUCK and AMERICAN FAME were slow to begin.
AMEDEO began awkwardly, shifted out abruptly and in doing so made heavy contact with KING TAI SING which became unbalanced. After this, KING TAI SING was taken across behind runners from the outside barrier.
LOVELY BOY shifted in at the start and hampered NOBODY BUT YOU.
When being steadied to obtain a position with cover near the 700 Metres, SUPER GOAL ELITE got its head up and became unbalanced. JOLLY POSH, which was following, was steadied away from the heels of SUPER GOAL ELITE.
Passing the 700 Metres, AMERICAN FAME was steadied away from the heels of NOBODY BUT YOU which shifted in.
Near the 150 Metres, KING TAI SING was shifted out away from AMEDEO which was giving ground.
Throughout the race, AMEDEO travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of RIDE ON THE FIRE, Z Purton stated that he had to make some use of the horse in the early stages to cross runners to its inside as he was required to do at its last start when he rode the horse. He said whilst RIDE ON THE FIRE had LOVELY BOY positioned to its outside in tonight’s race, the horse still travelled comfortably and he expected it to quicken when placed under pressure in the Straight. He said however that after commencing to ride his mount along rounding the Home Turn, RIDE ON THE FIRE did not show a turn of foot and, in his opinion, was disappointing in the manner in which it weakened in the Straight. Trainer C Fownes stated that RIDE ON THE FIRE had pleased him in the lead up to tonight’s race and a forward showing was expected. He said at its most recent run, when second, the horse was able to obtain an uncontested lead which was in contrast to tonight when the horse had another runner positioned directly to its outside. A veterinary inspection of RIDE ON THE FIRE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of KING TAI SING and SUPER GOAL ELITE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
RIDE ON THE FIRE, GOLDEN BAUHINIA and SHARP HUNTER were sent for sampling.
<28/11/2013 Additional Veterinary Report>RIDE ON THE FIRE, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. RIDE ON THE FIRE was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer C Fownes this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, RIDE ON THE FIRE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
