Racing Incident Report
HOXO began very awkwardly and lost ground.
As the start was effected, DINING STAR, which was fractious in the barriers, reared and lost ground. Before being allowed to race again, DINING STAR will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.
From the outside barrier, GLORIOUS SUNDAY was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
Near the 900 Metres, GLORIOUS SUNDAY was checked away from the heels of WINDICATOR POWER which, after being crowded for room between DINING STAR and OWNERS’ PRIDE (C O’Donoghue) which shifted in, then got its head on the side and shifted in abruptly across the heels of DINING STAR, causing WINDICATOR POWER to also be severely checked. In being severely reprimanded, C O’Donoghue was advised that whilst WINDICATOR POWER had contributed to the incident, nonetheless he must ensure that he leaves comfortable racing room for horses to his inside in similar circumstances.
HOXO got its head up and made the turn near the 850 Metres awkwardly.
Near the 150 Metres, DINING STAR got its head on the side and shifted in, resulting in its rider, Z Purton, having to stop riding and straighten his mount.
Near the 50 Metres, COUR VALANT, which was giving ground, was checked when crowded for room between BETTER ANNOUNCE which was taken in slightly by PRETTY ONE (Apprentice C Y Lui) and GLORIOUS SUNDAY which, after initially being taken out by GLACIER BLUE (K C Leung), then got its head on the side and shifted out of its own accord. Both Apprentice Lui and K C Leung were advised that whilst their individual shifts were not great, nonetheless in similar circumstances they would be expected to stop riding and straighten their mounts sooner than they did on this occasion.
Over the concluding stages, GLORIOUS SUNDAY continued to get its head on the side when awkwardly placed outside the heels of GLACIER BLUE. Because of this, GLORIOUS SUNDAY was not able to be properly tested over the concluding stages.
For the major part of the race, PRETTY ONE travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of DINING STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.
DINING STAR, SMART VOLATILITY and DANEWIN TIGER were sent for sampling.
