Racing Incident Report
Near the 800 Metres, VICTORIUS was steadied away from the heels of LONDON CHINA TOWN which shifted out.
After the 400 Metres, BEAUTY SPARKLE (M Chadwick) got its head on the side and hung in and approaching the 200 Metres M Chadwick dropped his right rein.
When questioned, M L Yeung stated that after being fractious in the barriers, SLICK BULLET was then slow to begin. He said he then shifted his mount to the outside rail in the early stages. He said he had intended continuing to improve along the outside rail, however, near the 500 Metres he was obliged to direct his mount inwards away from the heels of TALLEY CLOSE which was taken out by HEAVENISARACEHORSE. He said when he did this, he immediately commenced to slap his mount down the shoulder with the whip, however, approaching the 300 Metres LITTLE COW shifted out across the running of SLICK BULLET which resulted in him having to momentarily stop riding and come to the inside of that horse. He added he then had considerable difficulty obtaining clear running and for this reason he was not able to use the whip on the horse until the concluding stages at which time he was able to shift SLICK BULLET to the outside of NORDIC ONE. He said although SLICK BULLET was not able to obtain unimpeded running until the concluding stages, nonetheless the horse finished off the race very well.
After the race, C K Tong stated that DANE PATROL travelled fairly during the early and middle stages, however, its condition gave out noticeably over the concluding stages and in his opinion, would be improved by today’s race. A veterinary inspection of DANE PATROL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of LITTLE COW immediately following the race showed the horse to be a “roarer” which had previously been reported.
BEAUTY SPARKLE and LONDON CHINA TOWN were sent for sampling.
