Racing Incident Report

CHEERS JOY, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 20.5.13 by order of the Stewards (stable transfer).
Just prior to the start being effected, MIGHTY K became fractious, lifted its front feet off the ground and got its head up, consequently losing a significant amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, MIGHTY K will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial.
From wide barriers, RIO WILLIE and NOBLE BOY were taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
For some distance after the 1100 Metres, HAPPY CHAMPION got its head up on a number of occasions when awkwardly placed close to the heels of WINNING APEX.
Making the turn after the 600 Metres, WINNING APEX raced tight between NINTH GALAXY and LEO’S PRIDE which shifted out slightly.
Approaching the 100 Metres, HAPPY CHAMPION, which was closing off the race, raced in restricted room when improving between MEGA CHAMPION which was giving ground and ST YAZIN which got its head on the side and shifted out slightly.
Throughout the race, MEGA CHAMPION travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of WINNING APEX immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the Veterinary Officer reported that he was not able to conduct an endoscopic examination of the horse.
A veterinary inspection of LEO’S PRIDE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
GALAXY PRANCER and FLYING UNICORN were sent for sampling.
