Racing Incident Report

Near the 400 Metres, REGENCY LUCK was hampered when awkwardly placed close to the heels of FAT CHOY HONG KONG. After this, REGENCY LUCK was shifted to the inside of the heels of FAT CHOY HONG KONG to obtain clear running.
Throughout the race, GOOD WORDS got its head on the side and lay in. A veterinary inspection of GOOD WORDS including an endoscopic examination immediately following the race showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, GOOD WORDS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of LITTLE COW, Z Purton stated that he had ridden the horse in the lead up to today’s race and was of the opinion that LITTLE COW had improved since its most recent success last start. He said LITTLE COW travelled well through the run until the 300 Metres at which time he was required to place the horse under pressure when EXPRESS HORSE and GO BABY GO were ridden along to improve their positions to his inside. He said LITTLE COW did not show the same turn of foot as it had in its previous starts and was particularly disappointing over the concluding stages in respect of the horse’s failure to pick up and respond to his riding. He added that after the race LITTLE COW pulled up in a similar manner to as it had in previous starts. Trainer C S Shum stated that LITTLE COW had pleased him since its last start success and based on the manner in which it was successful at its last start and its subsequent track work, he believed the horse to be a strong chance in today’s race. He said he was not able to offer any excuse for the horse’s disappointing performance at this time. A veterinary inspection of LITTLE COW immediately following the race revealed the horse to be a “roarer”.
LITTLE COW, STRAIGHT GOLD and GO BABY GO were sent for sampling.
