Racing Incident Report
As the start was effected, ARRIVED AHEAD lifted its front feet off the ground and began only fairly. Over the final 200 Metres, CERISE CHERRY got its head on the side and lay in under pressure. For the majority of the race, CERISE CHERRY travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, A Suborics stated that he had been instructed to take up a forward position on CROWN WITNESS. He said CROWN WITNESS began satisfactorily, however, despite being ridden along did not show any early speed. He said shortly after the start CROWN WITNESS was inconvenienced by CERISE CHERRY which shifted out. He said having in mind CROWN WITNESS’ failure to show early speed, he felt that the horse’s interests would be better served by shifting it across behind runners rather than continue to ride it along in an attempt to obtain a more forward position and risk racing wide. He added that having in mind CROWN WITNESS’ lack of early pace, he believed that the horse would be better suited in races of longer distances than that of the 1200 Metres of today’s race. A veterinary inspection of CROWN WITNESS after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that ARRIVED AHEAD had lost its right hind plate. ARRIVED AHEAD, SUPREME WIN and CERISE CHERRY were sent for sampling.
