Racing Incident Report

GOLD BALL was withdrawn on 24.4.12 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter MAKE IT (K C Leung). Before being allowed to race again, GOLD BALL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. From the outside barrier, CARRY THE ZEAL was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Shortly after the start, SUPER MARSHAL was crowded for room inside MY NAME IS BOND which got its head on the side and shifted in away from JUMBO GOLD. Making the turn after the 1100 Metres, MY NAME IS BOND and CARRY THE ZEAL were crowded for room outside SUPER MARSHAL which got its head on the side and shifted out. Passing the 1000 Metres, ADORATION was awkwardly placed inside the heels of MY HOME TOWN. Approaching the 800 Metres, ADORATION and MY NAME IS BOND proved difficult to settle. After the 600 Metres, MY NAME IS BOND raced in restricted room between CARRY THE ZEAL and GOLDEN OSMANTHUS which shifted out marginally. Near the 400 Metres, ADORATION became unbalanced when being checked away from the heels of TALLEY CLOSE. MY NAME IS BOND, which was following, was inconvenienced in consequence. In the early part of the Straight, COSMIC BOOM got its head on the side and shifted in towards the heels of SUPER PLUS. Approaching the 150 Metres, SUPER MARSHAL was held up for clear running behind JUMBO GOLD. After the race, M Du Plessis (JUMBO GOLD) reported that his mount did not handle tonight’s track. A veterinary inspection of JUMBO GOLD and CARRY THE ZEAL after the race did not show any significant findings. TALLEY CLOSE and COSMIC BOOM were sent for sampling.
<26/4/2012 Additional Veterinary Report> The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that MAKE IT was found to have swollen both eyes on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, MAKE IT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
