Racing Incident Report

On jumping, SYDNEY POWER, from a wide barrier, was attempted to be shifted across behind runners, however, in the early stages proved difficult to settle and consequently raced wide and without cover. SUPER BRAND was slow to begin. From wide barriers, MAKE IT and MASTER RIO were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Making the first turn near the 1000 Metres, KICK SERVE proved very difficult to settle and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of LEGENDARY DRAGON which shifted in. Near the 100 Metres, LOYAL ARMY was steadied away from the heels of LUCKY RECORD which, after being brushed by LEGENDARY DRAGON, shifted out away from that horse. B Prebble (LUCKY RECORD) explained that in the early stages he attempted to shift his mount behind ALL VICTORY and obtain a position with cover behind that horse. He said however that LUCKY RECORD proved very difficult to restrain at this time and when the pace of the race was not overly quick in the early stages, he was not able to shift LUCKY RECORD in behind ALL VICTORY before CHATER POWER improved its position to the inside of LUCKY RECORD. He said making the first turn near the 1000 Metres LUCKY RECORD commenced to be very difficult to restrain and wanted to get its head on the side and shift out. He said because he was travelling wide and without cover he allowed LUCKY RECORD to improve its position to race outside ALL VICTORY, however, LUCKY RECORD continued to prove particularly difficult to ride in that it locked its jaw and attempted to hang out. He added making the Home Turn, despite his efforts, LUCKY RECORD continued to hang out and because of the manner in which the horse had travelled throughout the race, it was then not able to finish off its race. He said after the race he recommended to the connections that LUCKY RECORD be ridden quietly from off the pace as it appeared to settle better at its last start when successfully ridden in this manner from a wide draw. Prior to being permitted to race again, LUCKY RECORD will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY RECORD after the race did not show any significant findings. LUCKY RECORD, LEGENDARY DRAGON and MONEYMAKER were sent for sampling.
