Racing Incident Report

From wide barriers, OWNERS’ GLORY and VICTORY MASCOT were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. In the early stages, HOLLYWOOD KISS, despite being ridden along, took some time to muster speed. After being crossed by ANTIPASTO after the 2000 Metres, SURE CHAMP shifted out away from the heels of that horse, resulting in GOODVIEW SUCCESSOR being bumped on a number of occasions. For some distance after this, SURE CHAMP continued to prove difficult to settle. Near the 1800 Metres, ANTIPASTO, which was reluctant to hold its position, was checked after becoming badly unbalanced when racing tight to the inside of EAGLE SPIRIT. SURE CHAMP, which was following, was severely checked away from the heels of ANTIPASTO and shifted out, resulting in GOODVIEW SUCCESSOR becoming unbalanced and being taken wider. VICTORY MASCOT, which was following GOODVIEW SUCCESSOR, was checked away from the heels of that horse and in doing so shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of FUN HEROES which became unbalanced. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, ANTIPASTO, despite being vigorously ridden along, lost ground when reluctant to maintain its position inside FUN HEROES. Rounding the Home Turn, ANTIPASTO, which was racing in restricted room to the inside of SURE CHAMP, was checked when again reluctant to maintain its position inside that horse. After this, ANTIPASTO finished tailed out. The performance of ANTIPASTO was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, ANTIPASTO will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Passing the 250 Metres, GLORY OF INDIA was shifted out away from the heels of HOLLYWOOD KISS. In the Straight, GOODVIEW SUCCESSOR raced greenly and shifted out on a number of occasions. A veterinary inspection of HOLLYWOOD KISS and ANTIPASTO after the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of LET’S GOAL after the race did not show any significant findings other than the horse had sustained a small wound to the outside of the left hind fetlock. GOODVIEW SUCCESSOR and FUN HEROES were sent for sampling.
