Racing Incident Report
FLEET COMMAND, which was fractious in the barriers, was slow to begin. Near the 1000 Metres, ARION OF CHIU TON was steadied away from the heels of LUNAR REFLECTIONS (Apprentice T H So) which shifted in when not properly clear. Apprentice So was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances. Near the 800 Metres, MR BOND was left racing wide and without cover. Near the 500 Metres, MY HOME TOWN and LUNAR REFLECTIONS bumped as a result of MY HOME TOWN attempting to improve between THE WAND and LUNAR REFLECTIONS where there was insufficient room. In this incident, LUNAR REFLECTIONS became unbalanced. Over the concluding stages, MR BOND and VERY WELL raced tight. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ARION OF CHIU TON, O Doleuze stated that, in his opinion, the horse does not appreciate racing amongst other runners. He said ARION OF CHIU TON races best when able to obtain the lead. He said after being instructed to lead in tonight’s race if possible, he rode ARION OF CHIU TON along vigorously in the early stages, however, THE WAND showed superior speed and passing the winning post on the first occasion he was no longer able to maintain its position to the inside of that horse. He said after being crossed by horses, ARION OF CHIU TON travelled only fairly and then in the Straight did not respond to his riding. A veterinary inspection of LUNAR REFLECTIONS after the race revealed that the horse had bled from both nostrils. A veterinary inspection of UPGRADING and ARION OF CHIU TON after the race did not show any significant findings. FLEET COMMAND, MR BOND and VERY WELL were sent for sampling.
