Racing Incident Report

FIERY RAIDER was withdrawn on 3.12.11 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (inappetance) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SURFER BOY. Before being allowed to race again, FIERY RAIDER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. As the start was effected, EL GRANDE turned its head to the left and as a consequence was slow to begin. BET ON ME began awkwardly. From the outside barrier, TWIN TURBO was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 800 Metres, TAKE BY STORM was awkwardly placed close to the heels of RUMBA KING which was being steadied to shift out across the heels of NOVEL START away from the rail. As a result of RUMBA KING shifting out at this time, BET ON ME and COMMON GOAL were taken wider. After this, BET ON ME was left racing wide and without cover. After the 200 Metres, QUANTUM EXPRESS, which was laying in, was awkwardly placed outside the heels of LUCKY TYCOON which shifted ground slightly. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on EPEE DE HUA at the request of Trainer A T Millard. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, EPEE DE HUA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of BET ON ME after the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was not able to be scoped. RUMBA KING and EL GRANDE were sent for sampling.
