Racing Incident Report

From a wide barrier, MEDIC CHAMPION was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. C K Tong (SPEED RACER) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after the 1500 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of POLYGOLD, causing that horse to be checked and lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled. C K Tong was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday, 6 November 2011 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting on Wednesday, 26 October 2011. C K Tong also pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the winning post on the first occasion he rode SPEED RACER along in an attempt to force a run between CLASSA and CHEERFUL DOUBLE where there was insufficient room, resulting in SPEED RACER being checked and in doing so shifting in, causing CHEERFUL DOUBLE to be badly crowded for room outside FULL VERSION which itself became badly unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by CHEERFUL DOUBLE. The Stewards ruled that the terms of suspensions be served concurrently. Turning into the Back Straight, SOHNA became unbalanced when taken wider by POLYGOLD. After this, SOHNA was left racing wide and without cover. Near the 900 Metres, SPEED RACER was checked away from the heels of CLASSA. POLYGOLD, which was following, was hampered in consequence. Approaching the 400 Metres, CHEERFUL DOUBLE shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of SPEED RACER, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. Throughout the race, FAIRY BOY travelled wide and without cover. RAY’S FAVOURITE, CLASSA and GORGEOUS RULER were sent for sampling.
