Racing Incident Report

SOLAR BOY blundered at the start and consequently lost ground. Approaching the 800 Metres, FIERY RAIDER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of NOVEL START. Throughout the race, NOVEL START travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MY WHISKY, Y T Cheng stated that after beginning awkwardly, he rode his mount along vigorously in the early stages including using the whip on the horse in an endeavour to have it obtain the lead as he was instructed. He said however that despite his endeavours MY WHISKY was not able to obtain the lead and then travelled only fairly in the middle stages. He added he placed the horse under pressure prior to the Home Turn, however, MY WHISKY weakened noticeably in the Straight. Trainer Y S Tsui stated that he had been disappointed with MY WHISKY’s races this season and for this reason he attempted to keep the horse fresh in the days leading up to tonight’s race. He said however that MY WHISKY raced very disappointingly and it was now his intention to give the horse a brief let-up. A veterinary inspection of MY WHISKY after the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of SOLAR BOY after the race did not show any significant findings other than the horse had sustained an abrasion to the inside heel of the left front foot. SOLAR BOY, ELUSIVE PRINCE and FIERY RAIDER were sent for sampling.
