Racing Incident Report

SUPREME FAY FAY was withdrawn on 5.10.11 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (raised muscle enzyme). Before being allowed to race again, SUPREME FAY FAY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. On arrival at the Start, CONNOISSEUR’S PICK had its left front plate refitted. CONNOISSEUR’S PICK was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. GROOVY was difficult to load. Before being allowed to race again, GROOVY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. MERACUS and GROOVY were slow to begin. When being steadied near the 1000 Metres to obtain cover, SUPERIOR WARRIOR commenced to race fiercely and, despite the efforts of its rider, was not able to be shifted in to a position with cover. D Whyte (HAPPY YEAH YEAH) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 800 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of GREEN ZONE, resulting in that horse being crowded for room, becoming unbalanced and losing the position to which it was rightfully entitled. D Whyte was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday, 24 October 2011 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 16 October 2011. After the 500 Metres and rounding the Home Turn, CONNOISSEUR’S PICK was taken wider by GROOVY which shifted out to improve. Passing the winning post, SUPERIOR WARRIOR was severely checked when crowded for room between FOREST STAR and CONNOISSEUR’S PICK which, when finishing off the race strongly, improved into tight running between SUPERIOR WARRIOR and SHINING TRIUMPH. After improving into this tight run, CONNOISSEUR’S PICK was taken in slightly by SHINING TRIUMPH which shifted ground marginally. In the circumstances, the Stewards believed there was no rider error involved and therefore no further action was taken. TIME AFTER TIME and AEROSA were sent for sampling.
