Racing Incident Report

CHATER MIKADO was withdrawn on 30.4.11 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by first Standby Declared Starter UNION’S STAR. BULLISH CHAMPION was also withdrawn on 30.4.11 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (left fore tendon injury) and was replaced by second Standby Declared Starter ABLE SPEED (D Oliver). SUPER HURRICANE was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right hind). Before being allowed to race again, CHATER MIKADO, BULLISH CHAMPION and SUPER HURRICANE will all be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MERACUS and TREASURE GOLD were slow to begin. SUPREME WIN shifted out at the start and bumped PRETTY ONE. From wide barriers, HAPPY PRESTIGE, UNION’S STAR and ENHANCED were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Making the first turn, FLYING COLOURS shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of ELITE SIXTY-SIX. After the 700 Metres, SUPREME WIN was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 100 Metres, CAPITAL K was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of MERACUS which shifted out. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of FLYING COLOURS, Apprentice K C Leung stated that approaching and passing the 600 Metres FLYING COLOURS commenced to over-race and was restrained away from the heels of SHINING VICTORY. He said when the field quickened after straightening, FLYING COLOURS was left somewhat flat-footed, but after this was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of ELITE SIXTY-SIX and FLYING COLOURS after the race did not show any significant findings. PRETTY ONE, ABLE SPEED and SHINING VICTORY were sent for sampling.
