Racing Incident Report

On arrival at the Start, it was noted that PROLIFIC CHAMPION had lost its left front plate. PROLIFIC CHAMPION was replated and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. ABLE ONE began awkwardly. ULTRA FANTASY shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of PROLIFIC CHAMPION which after bumping TAI SING YEH became unbalanced. When questioned, B Prebble (SACRED KINGDOM) stated that the horse began well and shortly after the start he commenced to shift SACRED KINGDOM to the outside. He said after the 800 Metres SACRED KINGDOM became badly unbalanced in its action and, in his opinion, was resenting the kickback at this time of the race. He said after this SACRED KINGDOM travelled only satisfactorily and when he became aware after the 600 Metres that a number of horses were racing away from the outside fence, he elected to steady SACRED KINGDOM and shift the horse out across the heels of EL ZONDA towards the outside fence. He added when he did this, SACRED KINGDOM immediately travelled better which, in his opinion, confirmed that the horse was resenting racing behind runners in the early stages. He said after commencing to ride SACRED KINGDOM after the 400 Metres, the horse responded well to his riding and closed off the race strongly. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on SWEET SANETTE at the request of Trainer A T Millard. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SWEET SANETTE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SWEET SANETTE and SACRED KINGDOM were sent for sampling.
