Racing Incident Report

TREASURE LANDS was slow to begin. After the 1200 Metres, TURF EXPRESS was left racing wide and without cover. Near the 150 Metres, SICHUAN SUCCESS was steadied away from the heels of LITTLE BRIDGE (Z Purton) which shifted in when not properly clear. Z Purton was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he makes every effort to keep his mounts on a straight course in future. When questioned, Trainer J Moore stated that he had intended for MILITARY MOVE to be ridden in a slightly more forward position today than previously due to the anticipated lack of pace in the race. He said however that in a telephone conversation with the owner of MILITARY MOVE, the owner was adamant that MILITARY MOVE should be ridden in a more forward position as, in his opinion, there was no speed in the race apart from MULTIGLORY. He said the owner therefore hoped that MULTIGLORY would be able to lead on the fence and MILITARY MOVE would be able to race to the outside of that horse. Mr Moore added that the owner of MILITARY MOVE had explained that the horse was ridden in a forward position when it was successful in New Zealand prior to arriving in Hong Kong and therefore he had expressly wanted the horse to be ridden in a similar manner. The Stewards contacted Mr Stephen Lo Kit Sing who confirmed that he advised Mr Moore that he wished for MILITARY MOVE to be ridden more forward today, similarly to how it was ridden in New Zealand prior to it being imported to Hong Kong. Mr Lo further advised that following the disappointing performance of MILITARY MOVE today, he will discuss with Mr Moore how the horse should be ridden in the future. LUCKY NINE and XTENSION were sent for sampling.
