Racing Incident Report

SUPER CARDED, CHINA WIN and JAI JAI HO were all slow to begin. As the start was effected, MY MATE ADRIC, which was leaning on the outside of its stall, began awkwardly and shortly after the start shifted in and bumped KING AL AKBAR. After this, MY MATE ADRIC was ridden along in an attempt to obtain a forward position and then after the 1000 Metres was left racing wide and without cover. Near the 1200 Metres, NOVEL WINNING was steadied when crowded for room between SUPER CARDED which got its head up and proved difficult to settle and FUN HEROES which, after being awkwardly placed inside the heels of TELECOM TOP STAR, got its head on the side and shifted in. A short distance later, SUPER CARDED, which continued to prove difficult to settle, was steadied away from the heels of FUN HEROES which continued to get its head on the side and shift in. In this incident, JAI JAI HO, which was racing to the inside of SUPER CARDED and racing greenly, was hampered in consequence. For some distance between the 700 Metres and the 600 Metres, KING AL AKBAR proved difficult to settle and was checked away from the heels of SUPER CARDED. KING AL AKBAR then shifted in and crowded the racing room of JAI JAI HO. At the same time, CHINA WIN got its head up when being checked away from the heels of COOL CAT. When questioned, Apprentice M L Yeung stated that he had been instructed to ride MASTER KEY quietly from barrier 13 today. He said after MASTER KEY began very well, he noticed that a number of horses drawn more favourably were not being ridden to take up forward positions, therefore he felt that he would have to overly restrain MASTER KEY were it to be ridden back in the field. He said for this reason he elected to allow MASTER KEY to stride forward and obtain a position behind the leaders. A veterinary inspection of SUPER CARDED after the race revealed that the horse had bled from both nostrils. KING AL AKBAR, KHARU and FUN HEROES were sent for sampling.
