Racing Incident Report
As the start was effected, CALIFORNIA MEMORY lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently was slow to begin. FOREVER ELATION was checked and IRON FIST and ENHANCED were badly crowded for room at the start between DOUBLE LUCK and TURF EXPRESS which shifted out abruptly after being bumped by BERIO. At the 1000 Metres, SILVER GRECIAN got its head up and proved difficult to settle when racing in restricted room between NEEDLES AND THREAD which itself was awkwardly placed inside the heels of BLAZING SADDLES and CALIFORNIA MEMORY. Near the 700 Metres, SILVER GRECIAN was hampered when crowded for room between NEEDLES AND THREAD and CALIFORNIA MEMORY which got its head on the side and shifted out. Rounding the Home Turn, EUPHEMISM was checked away from the heels of NEEDLES AND THREAD which itself was awkwardly placed close to the heels of ENHANCED. At about the 100 Metres, Apprentice K C Leung (BERIO) dropped his left rein. Approaching the 50 Metres, SILVER GRECIAN was unable to improve when held up for clear running behind EXCEPTIONAL ART. Because of this SILVER GRECIAN was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. Throughout the race, both TURF EXPRESS and IRON FIST travelled wide and without cover. D Whyte (ENHANCED) reported that his mount travelled only fairly in the race after being bumped at the start and then crowded for room. A veterinary inspection of ENHANCED after the race did not show any significant findings. ENHANCED, CALIFORNIA MEMORY and BERIO were sent for sampling.
