Racing Incident Report
SUPERIOR WARRIOR was slow to begin. CLASSIC NAVIGATOR shifted in at the start, resulting in MORE THAN YOU WISH being hampered. GUNNER MAC and CHANTILLY bumped at the start. W M Lai (CLASSIC NAVIGATOR) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 800 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of MORE THAN YOU WISH, resulting in that horse being taken in onto GUNNER MAC which in turn was taken in onto CHANTILLY, resulting in CHANTILLY being taken across the rightful running of OUR WISH which as a result was checked. W M Lai was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday, 18 October 2010 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 10 October 2010. G Cheyne (TOWKAY FLYER) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 600 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of KING ON EARTH, resulting in that horse being checked and losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled. CLASSIC NAVIGATOR, which was following KING ON EARTH, was hampered in consequence. G Cheyne was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday, 11 October 2010 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Friday, 1 October 2010. When questioned, W M Lai stated that he was not given any specific instructions as to how CLASSIC NAVIGATOR should be ridden today as he had ridden the horse on a number of occasions in the past. He said it was felt that CLASSIC NAVIGATOR would be able to take up a forward position behind the leaders. He said CLASSIC NAVIGATOR began well, he allowed TOWKAY FLYER, which was drawn immediately to his inside, to take up a forward position in the early stages and he commenced to shift CLASSIC NAVIGATOR in to obtain a position behind that horse. He said after not being able to properly clear runners to his inside passing the 800 Metres, CLASSIC NAVIGATOR was left racing wide and in an endeavour to obtain a position closer to the fence, he steadied his mount passing the 700 Metres to obtain a position behind KING ON EARTH. FRESH AIR and TURBO KING were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that KING ON EARTH had lost its right hind plate.
