Racing Incident Report

HOLD HANDS was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, CERISE CHERRY shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of FORTUNE RED PEPPER which became unbalanced. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, DANZULU was steadied away from the heels of CERISE CHERRY which shifted in. Approaching the 1100 Metres, RIDE WITH THE WIND took charge of its rider and proved very difficult to settle and near the 1000 Metres shifted out away from the heels of ROYAL PANACHE, resulting in HOLD HANDS being severely checked when taken across the heels of NEEDLES AND THREAD. FORTUNE RED PEPPER, which was racing to the outside of HOLD HANDS, was hampered and taken wider in consequence. FORTUNE RED PEPPER then raced wide for the remainder of the event. After this, RIDE WITH THE WIND continued to prove very difficult to settle. The performance of RIDE WITH THE WIND was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, RIDE WITH THE WIND will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial around a bend. The Stewards ruled that when competing in an official barrier trial, RIDE WITH THE WIND must be ridden by a senior jockey. Throughout the race, DANZULU travelled wide and without cover. The performance of DORDENMA, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, DORDENMA will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of FORTUNE RED PEPPER after the race did not show any significant findings. CERISE CHERRY, DREAM TEAM and HURRICANE DASH were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that NEEDLES AND THREAD had sustained a cut to its right hind tendon area and was lame in the same leg. Before being allowed to race again, NEEDLES AND THREAD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
