Racing Incident Report

Shortly after the start, GALLANT GALLOP was crowded for room between BUMPER STRIKE and MEGA BULLET, both of which shifted ground. Also shortly after the start, SUPER SURPRISE shifted out slightly and bumped ABLE DRAGON which became unbalanced. Apprentice K C Leung (WIN A DOZEN) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the winning post on the first occasion he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of OTTIMO, resulting in that horse being taken across the rightful running of THE UNTOUCHABLELAD which was checked. When THE UNTOUCHABLELAD was checked, it shifted out, resulting in ABLE DRAGON being crowded for room inside MEGA BULLET. Apprentice Leung was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 20 May 2010 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Saturday, 8 May 2010. Near the 1300 Metres, MEGA BULLET was steadied away from the heels of MASTER DRAGON and shifted out, resulting in HAPPY CHA CHA being taken wider. Also near the 1300 Metres, THE UNTOUCHABLELAD raced tight inside ABLE DRAGON. Throughout the race, MASTER DRAGON travelled wide and without cover. Z Purton, the rider of GO STITCH, reported that the horse jumped a shadow on the track passing the 700 Metres, became badly unbalanced and lost a considerable amount of ground. GALLANT GALLOP, which was following, was severely checked away from the heels of GO STITCH in consequence. In the circumstances, the Stewards ruled that GO STITCH will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend before being allowed to race again. A veterinary inspection of ABLE DRAGON, LUCKY TYCOON and GO STITCH after the race did not show any significant findings. OTTIMO and THE UNTOUCHABLELAD were sent for sampling.
