Racing Incident Report

KINGIFLY was withdrawn on 2.4.10 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (laceration to the right hind) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter BUMPER STRIKE (J Lloyd). Before being allowed to race again, KINGIFLY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. BLINK AGAIN and BUMPER STRIKE were slow to begin. DOUBLE DRAGON began awkwardly. IMAGINATION was slow to begin and then shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of PERPETUAL KINGDOM which shifted out. Shorty after the start, GRANDWAY FLYER and HO HAPPY bumped on a number of occasions. Near the 800 Metres, GRANDWAY FLYER was steadied away from the heels of HO HAPPY which was taken out slightly by MEGABUCKS. B Doyle (MEGABUCKS) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 400 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of HO HAPPY, causing that horse to be severely checked and lose its rightful running. DREAM HORSE, which was following HO HAPPY, was inconvenienced as a consequence. B Doyle was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 22 April 2010 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha tin racemeeting on Saturday, 10 April 2010. In addition, B Doyle was fined $15,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. PERPETUAL KINGDOM, FIRST IN COMMAND and CHINA WIN were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that DREAM HORSE had bled from both nostrils. Also after the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on POWER RETURN at the request of Trainer D J Hall. The Veterinary Officer reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, POWER RETURN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
