Racing Incident Report

TATTENHALL DELIGHT began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of STEEL NERVES. A short distance later, TATTENHALL DELIGHT was checked when crowded for room between IMPLIED VOLATILITY and STEEL NERVES which shifted in after being bumped by ROYAL KNIGHT. For some distance approaching and passing the 1200 Metres, TATTENHALL DELIGHT, which was proving difficult to settle, was severely checked away from the heels of ROYAL KNIGHT. Passing the 1100 Metres, MAINLAND SHUTTLE got its head on the side and shifted in when being checked away from the heels of MARK UP which itself was awkwardly placed behind IMPLIED VOLATILITY. In this incident, TATTENHALL DELIGHT was checked from the heels of MAINLAND SHUTTLE. For some distance after this, TATTENHALL DELIGHT was then awkwardly placed close to the heels of MAINLAND SHUTTLE. Passing the 600 Metres, MAINLAND SHUTTLE raced tight inside MARK UP which shifted in slightly. Passing the 500 Metres, TATTENHALL DELIGHT was checked away from the heels of MARK UP. Approaching the 200 Metres, SUPER CAGA got its head on the side and hung out. Throughout the race, HOLIDAY SUN travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, Z Purton (IMPLIED VOLATILITY) stated that passing the winning post on the first occasion he considered riding his mount along to improve its position to the inside of ELECTRONIC MASTER. He added however that he was reluctant to do this as he wished to ensure that IMPLIED VOLATILITY remained settled and that he was able to obtain cover behind ELECTRONIC MASTER. He said for this reason passing the 1200 Metres he steadied his mount to allow ELECTRONIC MASTER to cross. He stated after being crossed by ELECTRONIC MASTER, IMPLIED VOLATILITY commenced to over-race badly and was continually checked away from the heels of ELECTRONIC MASTER. A veterinary inspection of MAINLAND SHUTTLE after the race revealed that the horse was lame in its right hind leg, had sustained a cut to the outside of the heel and had lost its right hind plate. Before being allowed to race again, MAINLAND SHUTTLE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. IMPLIED VOLATILITY, ELECTRONIC MASTER and ROYAL KNIGHT were sent for sampling. <11/3/2010 Additional Veterinary Report> The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that SUPER CAGA was found to be lame in its left front leg this morning. Before being allowed to race again, SUPER CAGA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
