Racing Incident Report
POS TRUMPS was withdrawn on 12.6.09 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SUPER CHARGE (M Du Plessis). Before being allowed to race again, POS TRUMPS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HIGH LUCK was slow into stride. EASY AHEAD was slow to begin. Near the 1100 Metres, GLOBAL WIN got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of MACHO EXPRESSO (D Whyte) which shifted in when not properly clear. In the circumstances, D Whyte was severely reprimanded and told to ensure he is fully clear before crossing runners. At the 500 Metres, HIGH LUCK became unbalanced when momentarily crowded for room between CLASSIC NAVIGATOR and GLOBAL WIN. Passing the 200 Metres, B Prebble (GLOBAL WIN) dropped his left rein for a short distance. Throughout the race, MACHO EXPRESSO and EXPLODING travelled wide and without cover. R Fradd (INDUSTRIAL MARVEL) explained he had been instructed to ride his horse in 3rd or 4th position if it was not possible for the horse to lead on the rail. He said it was felt that horses drawn below INDUSTRIAL MARVEL may show superior speed to prevent him from crossing to the rail and he may be required to make too much use of INDUSTRIAL MARVEL in the early stages to cross and lead. He said INDUSTRIAL MARVEL began well and runners to his inside were hard ridden to go forward. He said in the early stages he did not ride INDUSTRIAL MARVEL along in an endeavour to obtain a position behind the lead, however, as he commenced to shift across, EASY AHEAD improved to race on his inside. He said as a consequence INDUSTRIAL MARVEL was left racing wide on the track. He said approaching the turn at the 700 Metres INDUSTRIAL MARVEL got its head on the side, shifted in and was steadied away from the heels of EASY AHEAD and because of this lost further ground. He said as a consequence INDUSTRIAL MARVEL travelled further back than was intended. Trainer C H Yip said he was concerned due to the composition of the field that INDUSTRIAL MARVEL may not have sufficient speed to cross and race on the rail in the lead. He said because of this he advised R Fradd it was acceptable to have the horse positioned behind the leaders. He said having reviewed the race, he was satisfied that INDUSTRIAL MARVEL was ridden in a position to obtain cover. ACHILLES OF TROY and EXPLODING were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of ACHILLES OF TROY and EXPLODING after the race did not show any significant findings. MACHO EXPRESSO, GRAND STORE and SUPER CHARGE were sent for sampling.
