Racing Incident Report
In the early stages, ANKH MORPORK was allowed to drift back from the outside barrier. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, MACHO EXPRESSO got its head on the side, shifted in and was steadied away from the heels of TOWKAY FLYER which shifted out slightly. Near the 400 Metres, CONFUCIUS CLASSIC was momentarily steadied when tightened for room inside SUPER GENERAL which got its head on the side and shifted in away from DEFERENTIAL. Over the final 200 Metres, GLENEALY STAR got its head on the side, hung out and shifted wider on the track. Over about the last 200 Metres, SUPER GENERAL had difficulty obtaining clear running and because of this was not fully tested. Passing the 200 Metres, MACHO EXPRESSO and DEFERENTIAL were carried wider by TOWKAY FLYER which shifted out. TOWKAY FLYER and SUPER GENERAL were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SUPER GENERAL after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported TOWKAY FLYER was noted to be making an abnormal breathing noise. He said TOWKAY FLYER had previously been reported to be a “roarer”. VICTORY CONQUEROR, GLENEALY STAR and KUNG FU were sent for sampling. <4/6/2009 Additional Veterinary Reports> TOWKAY FLYER, which performed poorly, was examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison. He said at that time the horse was noted to be making an abnormal breathing noise. TOWKAY FLYER was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A Lee this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, TOWKAY FLYER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
