Racing Incident Report
FOREVER ELATION was slow to begin. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, THUNDER DANCING failed to muster speed, then near the 1000 Metres was steadied away from the heels of WHISKY POWER which shifted in when barely clear. After this, THUNDER DANCING was taken back to a position with cover. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, THUNDER DANCING was checked to avoid the heels of ELITE SIXTY-SIX which was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUPREMACY. No action was taken. From on straightening until near the 200 Metres, MANY GAINS had difficulty obtaining clear running, then near the 100 Metres was steadied when disappointed for running between TAIJI SPIRIT and WHISKY POWER which when giving ground got its head on the side and drifted out. After this, WHISKY POWER was eased down. When questioned regarding the poor performance of SUPREMACY, Apprentice M Chadwick said due to the manner in which the race was run SUPREMACY was not able to obtain a position with cover. He said SUPREMACY travelled satisfactorily until the 700 Metres, however, shortly afterwards came under pressure and commenced to give ground. SUPREMACY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, SUPREMACY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SUPREMACY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned regarding the poor performance of GOOD LUCK WIN, Apprentice K C Leung said throughout the race his mount hung out and as a consequence he travelled wide on the track. He said GOOD LUCK WIN came under pressure on straightening, however, failed to respond to his riding. He did say at its only other race start on the All Weather surface GOOD LUCK WIN had performed poorly. GOOD LUCK WIN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GOOD LUCK WIN after the race did not show any significant findings. BUCCANEER and SPECIAL K were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported SPECIAL K had lost its right front plate.
