Racing Incident Report
SEVENS HEAVEN bounded in the air at the start, then bumped RAINBOW STAR, causing both horses to become unbalanced and lose ground. LEGEND began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped MUTUAL FRIENDSHIP. HAPPY MASTER was a little slow to begin. Near the 1100 Metres, KIMBERLEY was checked when crowded for room inside SURE GOOD (C K Tong) which got its head on the side and hung in away from HAPPY MASTER. RAINBOW STAR, which was following, became badly unbalanced when being steadied. C K Tong was severely reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to make a greater effort than he did on this occasion to prevent his mount from shifting ground. At the 700 Metres, OUR LUCKY BABY got its head up when being steadied to allow CHIEF WITNESS to cross to the fence in the lead. At the 500 Metres, LEGEND, which was commencing to shift out from behind HAPPY MASTER, was checked to avoid the heels of that horse which also shifted out at this time. No action was taken. After this, LEGEND had difficulty obtaining clear running for a short distance. Making the Home Turn and in the Straight, CHIEF WITNESS hung out. Shortly after straightening, OUR LUCKY BABY was steadied and shifted in away from the heels of CHIEF WITNESS. After the 100 Metres, FIRST BABY was struck on two occasions on the nose by the whip of K L Chui (HAPPY MASTER). Throughout the race, PAR EXCELLENCE travelled wide and without cover. SEA PRINCE, CHIEF WITNESS and FIRST BABY were sent for sampling.
