Racing Incident Report
Shortly after the start, CALL ME CULLEN and AURELIAN raced tight inside GOLD GEM. Near the 200 Metres, CALL ME CULLEN was steadied when disappointed for running between HAPPY ASH and GOLD DIGGER which was carried out slightly by COULDN’T CARE LESS. Shortly after this, HAPPY ASH after initially being carried out by CALL ME CULLEN was steadied away from the heels of AURELIAN (Y T Cheng) which shifted in slightly. Y T Cheng was told to exercise care. In the run to the winning post, COULDN’T CARE LESS hung out. Just prior to the winning post, TALE OF FRIENDSHIP was steadied away from the heels of LIGHTNING MOUNT which was carried wider by TATTENHALL DELIGHT. For the major part of the race, HAPPY ASH travelled wide and without cover. The performances of PERFECT ATHLETE and GLOBAL WAY, which tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, PERFECT ATHLETE and GLOBAL WAY will both be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned regarding the poor performance of GOLD GEM, D Beadman said the horse which was racing first up from a spell travelled satisfactorily until the 500 Metres. He said after the 500 Metres GOLD GEM did not respond to his riding. He added in his opinion the horse would derive benefit from today’s run. GOLD GEM and HAPPY ASH were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GOLD GEM and HAPPY ASH after the race did not show any significant findings. CALL ME CULLEN, COULDN’T CARE LESS and AURELIAN were sent for sampling.
