Racing Incident Report
MONTY was withdrawn on 18.3.08 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (blood abnormality) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter TOUT VA BIEN (D Whyte). Before being allowed to race again, MONTY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. TOUT VA BIEN began awkwardly, shifted out and lost ground. On jumping, KING CREOLE was taken across behind runners. CLEMENT ELITE was slow to begin. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, WIKI WIKI was checked when crowded for room inside BUCCANEER which got its head on the side and despite the efforts of its rider shifted in away from BRILLIANT TREASURE which at this time was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of OPTIC KING. In the circumstances, no action was taken. TOUT VA BIEN made the turn at the 1000 Metres awkwardly. After the 800 Metres, WIKI WIKI got its head up when being checked away from the heels of BUCCANEER. Also after the 800 Metres, CLEMENT ELITE, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up and was checked away from the heels of BRILLIANT TREASURE. In the middle stages, SHINING DRAGON hung out. Throughout the race, SABRE AND GOLD travelled wide and without cover and near the 600 Metres was carried wider when THAT'S IT which was proving difficult to settle shifted out from behind OPTIC KING. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, CLEMENT ELITE became unbalanced and blundered. After the 300 Metres, BUCCANEER was steadied and shifted to the outside of THAT'S IT to obtain clear running. For some distance after the 300 Metres, GANBARIA was held up and unable to improve between OPTIC KING and THAT'S IT. At the 150 Metres, Z Purton (BUCCANEER) dropped his whip. CLEMENT ELITE and SABRE AND GOLD were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of CLEMENT ELITE and SABRE AND GOLD after the race did not show any significant findings. BUCCANEER and BRILLIANT TREASURE were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported SHINING DRAGON had lost its left front plate.
