Racing Incident Report

QI'S PET was withdrawn on 10.11.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (back pain) and was replaced by first Standby Declared Starter NEW COMMAND (G Boss). DR MORE was also withdrawn on 10.11.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right fore suspensory ligament injury) and was replaced by second Standby Declared Starter OPERA MAGIC (P H Lo). Before being allowed to race again, QI'S PET and DR MORE will both be subjected to an official veterinary examination. On jumping, BEST FRIEND was checked when crowded for room inside NEW COMMAND which shifted in. SPACED began awkwardly. From a wide draw in the early stages, SUPREME DRAGON was taken across behind runners. After the 1000 Metres, SUPREME DRAGON was steadied away from the heels of COME HO CHOI. After the 200 Metres, PACIFIC ALLIANCE, which was closing the race off strongly, was steadied and shifted to the outside of COME HO CHOI to continue going forward. Throughout the race, OPERA MAGIC travelled wide and without cover. G Mossé (CHAMPION PIONEER) said the horse which has a history of hanging out in the Home Straight again hung out badly today. He said every time he commenced to ride CHAMPION PIONEER along, the horse shifted out and because of this he was placed at a disadvantage in riding his mount out. He said the manner in which CHAMPION PIONEER hung today was in his opinion worse than it had done previously. In the opinion of the Stewards, the performance of CHAMPION PIONEER was unsatisfactory. Before being allowed to race again, CHAMPION PIONEER will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend. CHAMPION PIONEER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of CHAMPION PIONEER after the race did not show any significant findings. DANABAA and SWEET BABY were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 12 November 2007)
The Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison reported that SPACED was this morning found to have an injury to the right front tendon. Before being allowed to race again, SPACED will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
