Racing Incident Report

KINGSGATE GLORY began awkwardly. At the 1500 Metres, GREEN IN BLUE was crowded for room between TRIUMPHANT DIAMOND and CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE. At the 400 Metres, SAFETY FIRST became unbalanced when disappointed for running between LUCKY MONEY and KINGSGATE GLORY. As a result of this, SAFETY FIRST lost ground. Shortly after this, COURAGEOUSHEART was checked when disappointed for running between SAFETY FIRST which continued to give ground and INDUSTRIAL SUCCESS which was racing tight inside CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE. In the circumstances, no action was taken. After this, COURAGEOUSHEART continued to have difficulty obtaining clear running until after the 200 Metres. At the 300 Metres, NASA PEARL, which was commencing to close the race off strongly, was steadied when disappointed for running between LUCKY MONEY and SAFETY FIRST. In the Straight, FLORAL NIRVANA hung out. S K Sit (GREEN IN BLUE) explained he had been instructed to ride the horse in 4th or 5th position with cover if possible. He said therefore he did not ride along in the early stages, however, near the 1700 Metres he commenced to improve his position and whilst travelling three wide he did have cover in midfield behind CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE. M Nunes (CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE) said from a wide barrier with the horse racing second up over 1800 Metres, he was instructed to endeavour to obtain a forward position, however, not to make use of the horse to lead as it was felt the horse would not be able to finish the race off today if ridden in this fashion. He said because of this in the early stages he gradually improved his position to be racing in front of midfield, however, he was not able to obtain cover and travelled three wide. He said CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE kept on in the early part of the Straight, however, over the final 200 Metres gave ground. TRIUMPHANT DIAMOND was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, TRIUMPHANT DIAMOND was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was displaying an irregular heart beat. Before being allowed to race again, TRIUMPHANT DIAMOND will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FLORAL NIRVANA was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FLORAL NIRVANA after the race did not show any significant findings. CRUSADER OF GOLD and MAVERICK were sent for sampling.
