Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the Start, S K Sit, the rider of NAPA, expressed concern over the action of the horse. NAPA was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. NAMJONG SKY was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, CLOVIS and LUCKY MAN checked when crowded for room between OKEYDOKEY and SIR OCTAVIUS, both of which shifted ground. No action was taken. With the intention of being ridden with cover, NAPA from the outside barrier was steadied and taken across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 900 Metres, CARELESS WHISPER became unbalanced and blundered. Near the 700 Metres, FIRST DEGREE was checked to avoid the heels of TOP STITCH (Apprentice K T Yeung) which shifted in when not quite clear. Apprentice Yeung was severely reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. After the 700 Metres, NAPA, which was proving difficult to settle, was checked and shifted out when disappointed for running between CLOVIS and SIR OCTAVIUS which at this time steadied away from the heels of CARELESS WHISPER. Near the 400 Metres, SIR OCTAVIUS was momentarily steadied when crowded for room between CARELESS WHISPER and CLOVIS which at this time shifted out slightly. At the 150 Metres, GENERAL KINGY was crowded for room between DILIGENT and TOP STITCH which shifted out momentarily. SIR OCTAVIUS was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SIR OCTAVIUS after the race did not show any significant findings. GENERAL KINGY, MARVELLOUS and DILIGENT were sent for sampling.
