Racing Incident Report
On jumping, LIFELINE PEGASUS and LUCKY DRAGON bumped. After this, LUCKY DRAGON was taken across behind runners. Shortly after the start, FEEL-SO-GOOD was steadied when crowded for room inside OKEYDOKEY which became unbalanced and shifted in when being steadied away from the heels of TERRAFERMA which also shifted in. Apprentice C W Wong (PERFECT TREASURE) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1000 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in, resulting in VALUE CHOICE and GANBARIA being badly crowded for room and losing their rightful running. In this incident, TERRAFERMA became unbalanced after being bumped by GANBARIA. Shortly after this incident, when VALUE CHOICE lost ground, BATURO was checked severely to avoid the heels of that horse. Apprentice Wong was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 28 June 2007 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting next Sunday 17 June 2007. In addition, Apprentice Wong was fined $10,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating 1 further raceday. In the middle stages, GANBARIA hung in, making the turn at the 600 Metres shifted away from PERFECT TREASURE and caused crowding on its inside to FEEL-SO-GOOD which as a result became unbalanced and lost ground. In the circumstances, no action was taken. OKEYDOKEY made the turn at the 600 Metres awkwardly and was steadied away from the heels of LIFELINE PEGASUS which shifted in momentarily. Making the Home Turn, FLYING KENNY was held up and unable to improve. For some distance approaching the 200 Metres, BATURO had difficulty obtaining clear running between VALUE CHOICE and LIFELINE PEGASUS. LIFELINE PEGASUS and GANBARIA were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of LIFELINE PEGASUS after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, GANBARIA, which finished tailed out, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse had a continuous displacement of the soft palate. The performance of GANBARIA was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, GANBARIA will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FEEL-SO-GOOD and KINGSTON MARBLE were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 14 June 2007)
LIFELINE PEGASUS, which performed poorly, was examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison. He said at that time there were no significant findings. LIFELINE PEGASUS was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A T Millard this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, LIFELINE PEGASUS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
