Racing Incident Report

After arriving in the saddling stalls, SIXTY SECONDS had its left hind plate reset. SIXTY SECONDS was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. After arriving at the Start, MIRACULOUS was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. He said in his opinion the horse was suitable to race. SEVENS HEAVEN, which was restless in its stall, bounded in the air and lost ground. CHINOOK was slow to begin. On straightening, TRIUMPH was steadied away from the heels of SILVER WRAITH which at this time shifted out to go forward. Throughout the race, MOONGLOW travelled wide and without cover. D Whyte (SOHNA) explained his mount travelled comfortably in a forward position until after the 600 Metres. He said at this time when placed under pressure SOHNA commenced to hang out and failed to respond to his riding. SOHNA was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, SOHNA was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. The performance of SOHNA, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, SOHNA will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MIRACULOUS and QUALITY-QUALITY were sent for sampling.
