Racing Incident Report
INFINITE DELIGHT began awkwardly and got its head up. NORTHERNER began awkwardly. With the intention of being ridden quietly, BULLISH CASH was taken back from a wide barrier, then in the early stages proved difficult to settle. Also in the early stages, EQUATOR KID proved difficult to settle. In the early and middle stages, JIANG JUN proved difficult to settle and hung out. After the 500 Metres, FUJI SUNRISE (B Prebble) commenced to shift out from behind PRETTY TRIO as EVER BRIGHT (D Nikolic) improved on its outside. Prior to straightening, FUJI SUNRISE bumped the hindquarters of EVER BRIGHT, causing that horse to become unbalanced behind. Rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, FUJI SUNRISE continued to endeavour to obtain clear running between EVER BRIGHT and PRETTY TRIO which at this time shifted out. After straightening, FUJI SUNRISE was disappointed for this run and shifted inwards. CARRIZO CREEK, which was following FUJI SUNRISE, was steadied away from the heels of that runner, shifted out and bumped INFINITE DELIGHT. The Stewards were satisfied D Nikolic had maintained his racing line in this incident. B Prebble was severely reprimanded and told whilst the Stewards appreciate competitive riding, he had on this occasion bordered on breaching a significant Rule and in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop persevering for running sooner than he did on this occasion. From shortly after straightening until after the 300 Metres, FUJI SUNRISE was held up and unable to obtain clear running. When FUJI SUNRISE shifted out to obtain clear running at the 300 Metres, CARRIZO CREEK was momentarily steadied away from the heels of that horse. At the 150 Metres, EQUATOR KID, which was closing the race off fairly, was steadied and shifted to the outside of INFINITE DELIGHT to continue going forward. At the 100 Metres, when giving ground, JIANG JUN was checked severely when crowded for room between FLYING TAMARI and ELECTRONICS SPUR which shifted in slightly further on its own accord after having initially been carried in by PRETTY TRIO which itself was carried in slightly by EVER BRIGHT. In the circumstances, D Nikolic was reprimanded for causing the initial crowding. Over the concluding stages, ELECTRONICS SPUR hung in and proved difficult to ride. JIANG JUN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of JIANG JUN after the race did not show any significant findings. EVER BRIGHT and FUJI SUNRISE were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 10 April 2007)
JIANG JUN, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. JIANG JUN was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer C H Yip this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have a sore and swollen left front tendon. Before being allowed to race again, JIANG JUN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
