Racing Incident Report

THE GOODIES, SANBENITO and FIRST BABY were slow to begin. Approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, when the tempo of the race steadied, CHATER SILK was checked to avoid the heels of SANBENITO which itself was checked away from the heels of RICH FOR ALL. At the same time, SUPER CEE JAY, which when being steadied away from the heels of FIRST BABY, got its head up and hung out. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, THE GOODIES was hampered and carried wider by CHATER SILK which at this time was checked and shifted out away from the heels of SANBENITO which itself when proving difficult to settle was again steadied away from the heels of RICH FOR ALL. ROMANTIC GREEN, which was following, was steadied in consequence. Making the Home Turn, FREEBIRD hung out. After the 400 Metres, SUPER CEE JAY was momentarily steadied and shifted to the inside of FIRST BABY into clear running. Near the 300 Metres, ALICE TOO, which was commencing to give ground, was checked when crowded for room between SUPER DANA which shifted in after being brushed by RICH FOR ALL and FIRST BABY (D Whyte) which shifted out when awkwardly placed on the heels of FREEBIRD. In the circumstances, it was considered appropriate to severely reprimand D Whyte and advise him to exercise greater care. After the 200 Metres, PRIME DELIGHT, which was commencing to close the race off strongly, was steadied and shifted to the inside of THE GOODIES to continue going forward. Over the concluding stages, FIRST BABY hung out. In the Straight, SANBENITO hung in. Throughout the race, SUPER DANA travelled wide and without cover. SUPER DANA and PRIME DELIGHT were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SUPER DANA after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, PRIME DELIGHT was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. FIRST BABY, LUCKYME an RICH FOR ALL were sent for sampling.
