Racing Incident Report

TREASURE COLT began awkwardly, knuckled, then throughout the race travelled wide and without cover and making the turns hung out. DASHING WINNER was slow to begin, then throughout the race hung out, in the Straight proved difficult to ride out and shifted wider. Near the 800 Metres, TAIJI SPIRIT was crowded for room between MY LUCK and BYRON which shifted in when awkwardly placed inside the heels of HELENE ELEGANCE which shifted ground. CLASSIC REUNION made the turn near the 700 Metres awkwardly and hung out. At the 500 Metres, DASHING WINNER shifted out and was checked away from the heels of PICKETT. Rounding the Home Turn, PICKETT raced tight behind TAIJI SPIRIT and inside CLASSIC REUNION. After the 400 Metres, PICKETT was shifted to the inside of TAIJI SPIRIT. Throughout the race, GAUCHO travelled wide and without cover. The performance of DAV AND MING, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, DAV AND MING will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Apprentice C W Wong (SURE JOY) was unable to offer any explanation for the poor performance of the horse. He said SURE JOY travelled comfortably in the lead and he was not concerned with the early tempo of the race, however, the horse gave ground shortly after straightening. BYRON and OCEAN TRANQUIL were sent for sampling.
