Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, A Delpech, the rider of A BETTER DRAGON, expressed concern over the horse's action during its preliminary. A BETTER DRAGON was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion the horse was lame in the right front leg and was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of A BETTER DRAGON. Before being allowed to race again, A BETTER DRAGON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PILLOW KING, which was fractious in the barrier, bounded in the air at the start, bumped the inside gate of its stall and then made contact with the hindquarters of FAIRPLAY. As a consequence, both FAIRPLAY and PILLOW KING lost ground. From the outside barrier, WE'RE BUDDIES was taken across behind runners. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, SWEETIE was carried wider by PILLOW KING which shifted out when awkwardly placed outside the heels of FAIRPLAY. At the 1100 Metres, JOY AND TREASURE was steadied away from the heels of G-ONE LEADING which itself was steadied away from the heels of GREEN IDEAL. Near the 700 Metres, FAIRPLAY was steadied away from the heels of JOY AND TREASURE which itself was steadied away from the heels of G-ONE LEADING. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, HONG KONG GEM got its head on the side and hung in. Approaching and passing the 200 Metres, G-ONE LEADING had some difficulty obtaining clear running between OPTIC KING and BAYVIEW LAD. At the 100 Metres, JOY AND TREASURE was steadied and shifted to the outside of PILLOW KING to continue going forward. Throughout the race, SWEETIE travelled wide and without cover. HONG KONG GEM was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of HONG KONG GEM after the race did not show any significant findings. PILLOW KING, G-ONE LEADING and NEW COMMAND were sent for sampling.
