Racing Incident Report

GALLANT WIN was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore). Before being allowed to race again, GALLANT WIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After being boxed, ARISTOCRACY was fractious, reared and momentarily sat down behind. The horse was removed from its stall and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, ARISTOCRACY will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. Apprentice H W Lai (ISLAND SPEED) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1300 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of EXPRESS MAIL, causing that horse to be checked and lose its rightful running. In the circumstances of this case, the Stewards believed the appropriate penalty was for Apprentice Lai's licence to ride in races be suspended for a period to expire on Monday 15 January 2007 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday 7 January 2007. In addition, Apprentice Lai was fined $10,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. In the early stages, WISDOM EXPRESS proved difficult to settle and on a number of occasions got its head up. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, ARISTOCRACY hung out. Also making the turn at the 800 Metres, AMERICAN VICTORY hung out badly and on straightening ran to the outside fence. Having in mind the horse's previous similar behaviour, the Stewards advised Mr C H Yip, trainer of the horse, that AMERICAN VICTORY will be required to perform satisfactorily in two consecutive official barrier trials around a bend before being permitted to race again. In the early and middle stages, KING OF SHAVER travelled wide and without cover. Over about the final 100 Metres, LUMINOUS and SOUTH BREEZE raced tight due to LUMINOUS laying in. AMERICAN VICTORY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of AMERICAN VICTORY after the race did not show any significant findings. BODACIOUS and SOUTH BREEZE were sent for sampling.
