Racing Incident Report

After being saddled, INDUSTRIAL MARVEL became fractious, reared up and hit its head in the saddling stalls. INDUSTRIAL MARVEL was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of INDUSTRIAL MARVEL. Before being allowed to race again, INDUSTRIAL MARVEL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After arriving at the Start, FLASHING STAR was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was lame in the right front leg and in his opinion was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of FLASHING STAR. Before being allowed to race again, FLASHING STAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. On jumping, WISE LOVER was bumped by GLORY YEARS which shifted out. After this, WISE LOVER was shifted across behind runners. ZAVONE began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of GAUCHO which on jumping shifted in. As a consequence, ZAVONE lost ground. Near the 800 Metres, ZAVONE was checked when awkwardly placed inside the heels of GRAND FIGHTER which got its head on the side and shifted in. At the 700 Metres, ZAVONE was again steadied away from the heels of GRAND FIGHTER. Approaching the 200 Metres and again over the concluding stages, GENKI KING and GLORY YEARS raced tight. When questioned, D Whyte (WISE LOVER) said on straightening he intended to take a run on the inside, however, GRAND FIGHTER which was the horse he had been trailing shifted in to the fence. He said because of this he endeavoured to obtain a run between GRAND FIGHTER and ZAVONE, however, GRAND FIGHTER initially shifted out approaching the 200 Metres and caused him some inconvenience, then after this ZAVONE shifted in slightly. He said because of this he had some difficulty obtaining clear running. D Whyte was told to ensure wherever circumstances permit he attempts to improve into runs. WISE LOVER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of WISE LOVER after the race did not show any significant findings. THUNDER FLASH and FLYING SPRINTER were sent for sampling.
