Racing Incident Report

FANTUZZI began awkwardly and got its head up. POCKET MONEY began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped LOTZATOW. For some distance approaching and passing the 1000 Metres, GALLANT LION proved difficult to settle. From on straightening until the 200 Metres, FANTUZZI was not able to obtain clear running. After the 100 Metres, STABLE MAIL was checked to avoid the heels of ALL TIME HIGH (R Fradd) which when giving ground quickly initially shifted in and then when straightened by its rider shifted out when not clear of STABLE MAIL. In the circumstances, R Fradd was reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. In the Straight, DASHING THUNDER hung in, had difficulty obtaining clear running and because of this was not fully tested. Throughout the race, PRETTY TRIO and SUPER WONGCHOY travelled wide and without cover. D Whyte (POCKET MONEY) said his mount travelled comfortably in the early and middle stages, however, failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure in the Straight. He was unable to offer any explanation for the performance of the horse. WINNING BULLET and POCKET MONEY were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, WINNING BULLET, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was displaying an irregular heart beat. As this was the second occasion on which WINNING BULLET had been reported post-race to have an irregular heart beat, the horse is compulsorily retired. A veterinary inspection of POCKET MONEY after the race did not show any significant findings. LOTZATOW, SIR ERNESTO and VITAL KING were sent for sampling.
