Racing Incident Report

DASHING WINNER was slow to begin and making the Home Turn hung out. FRIENDSHIP began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped HIP HIP HOORAY. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, GENKI KING became unbalanced when crowded for room between HELENE ELEGANCE and GOLDEN CARE which shifted out slightly. At the 450 Metres, HAPPY WINNING was hampered and carried wider by FANTASY which at this time steadied and shifted out away from the heels of FRIENDSHIP. Y T Cheng (FRIENDSHIP) said the horse which is one-paced kept on fairly in the early part of the Straight. He said approaching the 200 Metres he was aware FANTASY which improved quickly on his outside was hanging in, he allowed that horse to cross before continuing to ride his mount out. He said FRIENDSHIP was not finishing the race off as well as FANTASY, therefore he was not able to continue forward near the 200 Metres. M Nunes (DREAM HORSE) was unable to offer an explanation for the performance of the horse. He said the intention had been to ride it in a forward position, however, at no stage of the race despite his riding did DREAM HORSE show speed and as a consequence travelled well back and failed to run on in the Straight. The performance of DREAM HORSE was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, DREAM HORSE will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GENKI KING, DREAM HORSE and CRYSTAL were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GENKI KING, DREAM HORSE and CRYSTAL after the race did not show any significant findings. KIMBO KID, GOLDEN CARE and HIP HIP HOORAY were sent for sampling.
