Racing Incident Report
After being boxed, TRIO'S PET became fractious, reared and dislodged M W Leung, its rider. TRIO'S PET was removed from its stall and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. M W Leung was uninjured. AS YOU WISH was a little slow to begin and then lost further ground when bumped by TRIO'S PET which began awkwardly and shifted out. SURE JOY was slow to muster speed in the early stages. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, GRASS HOPPER was checked when crowded for room inside FUNTRAP which initially got its head on the side and shifted in away from SURE JOY (Apprentice C W Wong) and then was carried in further by that horse which improved towards the inside of the heels of GOLDEN FARM. Apprentice Wong was reprimanded and told to ensure it is safe for him to improve inside other runners. EVEREST, which was following GRASS HOPPER, was checked in consequence. MILLION CHASE made the Home Turn awkwardly and became unbalanced. Near the 250 Metres, GRASS HOPPER was steadied and shifted out when disappointed for running inside FUNTRAP. For some distance approaching the 200 Metres, RACING SPIRIT, which was unable to obtain clear running, was steadied and shifted out. At the 50 Metres, MILLION CHASE improved into a narrow run between CHAMP DE UNION and SURE JOY. The performance of TRIO'S PET, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, TRIO'S PET will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. EVEREST was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of EVEREST after the race did not show any significant findings. BUDDIES SPIRIT and SURE JOY were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 29 June 2006)
EVEREST, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. EVEREST was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer C Fownes this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have a restricted action. Before being allowed to race again, EVEREST will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
