Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the Start, DASHING WINNER was examined by the Veterinary Officer at the request of G Schofield, the horse's rider. The Veterinary Officer said in his opinion DASHING WINNER was suitable to race. ALWAYS WELCOME began awkwardly, got its head up and lost ground. At the 1000 Metres, ALWAYS WELCOME was unable to maintain its position between INVERNESS and TAIJI SPIRIT which was tight inside the heels of LUCKY STRAVINSKY which was carried in slightly by LUCKY UNICORN. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, DASHING WINNER hung out. Also making the turn at the 800 Metres, ALWAYS WELCOME hung out and was steadied away from the heels of TAIJI SPIRIT. After the 200 Metres, BEAUTY PLUS was steadied away from the heels of WINDICATOR which when giving ground shifted in. Throughout the race, LUCKY UNICORN travelled wide and without cover, then making the Home Turn hung out. ALWAYS WELCOME was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, ALWAYS WELCOME was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, ALWAYS WELCOME will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HAR HAR CHARMS and LUCKY UNICORN were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported HIP HIP HOORAY had lost its right front plate.
