Racing Incident Report

ACCOLADE and GIANNI were slow to begin. In the early stages, with the intention of being ridden quietly from a wide barrier, QUALITY-QUALITY got its head up when being steadied. At the 700 Metres, ACCOLADE, which was inclined to hang out, was awkwardly placed inside the heels of QUALITY-QUALITY. At the 500 Metres, QUALITY-QUALITY was awkwardly placed inside GIANNI which improved around the outside and LUCKY CORDELIA which shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of FINGERS CROSSED. At the 200 Metres, FINGERS CROSSED got its head on the side and shifted wider. At the 50 Metres, QUALITY-QUALITY, which was closing the race off strongly, got its head on the side, shifted in and became awkwardly placed outside the heels of SUPER FANTASY. In the Straight, CHATER SILK hung in. C Munce (SUPER FANTASY) explained the horse in recent starts had proved difficult to settle and consequently not finished its races off. He said because of this today he was instructed to ride SUPER FANTASY where it was relaxed in a position with cover. He said from a wide barrier he did not ride SUPER FANTASY along in the early stages to ensure it was able to obtain cover and not over-race. He said as a consequence SUPER FANTASY travelled further back than usual, however, the horse when ridden in this manner did close the race off fairly in the Straight although its run did finish short of the line. WHIPLASH and CHATER SILK were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported FIRST KNIGHT had lost its right front plate.
