Racing Incident Report

ABERDEEN, which was leaning against the inside of its stall, began awkwardly and lost ground. MAVERICK STAR and DELIGHTFUL WIN began awkwardly. On jumping, CHAMP DRAGON knuckled, then failed to muster speed. LASER POWER was a little slow to begin. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, TIGER RIDGE was unable to maintain its position inside BYRON which itself was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of CHAMP DRAGON. At the 350 Metres, BYRON was steadied and shifted to the inside of PEARL OF INDIA to obtain clear running. Apprentice C W Wong (MAVERICK STAR) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 250 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of ENTERTAINING and DELIGHTFUL WIN, causing those horses to be checked. Apprentice Wong was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 23 March 2006 on which day he may resume race riding (4 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension is to take immediate effect. Approaching the 200 Metres, QUEST FOR LOVE was steadied when held up and unable to improve between PEARL OF INDIA and BYRON. After the 50 Metres, BYRON was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GUNG HO. Over the concluding stages, GUNG HO got its head on the side and shifted in and on the winning post made contact with LASER POWER. Throughout the race, WADADELIGHT raced wide and without cover. GUNG HO and LASER POWER were sent for sampling.
