Racing Incident Report
LA TACHE was slow to begin. SOUTH CHINA NINETY began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped HAPPY SUNDAY. After this, SOUTH CHINA NINETY was taken across behind runners. On jumping, FLY ME TO THE MOON and HIGHLAND DAWN bumped. In the early stages, from the wide barrier, HAPPY SUNDAY travelled wide and without cover. CIRCULAR MACHINE hung out making the turn at the 1000 Metres and again making the Home Turn. At the 250 Metres, SOUTH CHINA NINETY was steadied when inconvenienced inside MIRACLE DRAGON which at this time shifted in. At the 200 Metres, KAO AND MING, which was closing the race off strongly, was steadied and shifted to the outside of HAPPY SUNDAY to obtain clear running. At the 150 Metres, DANEMAN HILL, which was giving ground, was bumped by FLY ME TO THE MOON which at this time shifted out. When questioned regarding the improved performance of HIGHLAND DAWN, Trainer J Moore said following the horse's first run this season in December, its blood profile showed some abnormality. He said because of this HIGHLAND DAWN did not race again until 8 February 2006 when on that occasion from barrier 9 the horse travelled wide and without cover throughout, at times hung in and then in the Straight gave ground. He said tonight from an inside barrier he was expecting an improved performance from HIGHLAND DAWN and as such he believed the horse to be a place chance in the race. He did say he was surprised by the strong betting move on HIGHLAND DAWN and stated this move was not stable inspired. HAPPY SUNDAY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, HAPPY SUNDAY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea and a dorsal displacement of the soft palate. Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY SUNDAY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CIRCULAR MACHINE, HIGHLAND DAWN and KAO AND MING were sent for sampling.
